Fame is Up for Grabs

One of the first famous peeps was Alexander the Great. He would put his image on coins and have painters paint him. Fame is imagery.

What is Fame?

People reserve a special place in their hearts for famous people. They go bonkers. They scream, they get excited, they buy what famous people buy. We get their autograph. We want their pictures. We scour magazines about their lives. The more people who know you, the more famous you are. The people don't really know YOU, they know your image. So in order to become famous, we need to

1. Have an image that transfers from person to person quickly and efficiently through social media channels.

2. Getting to know as many people as possible. Social media facilitates the "getting to know you" process. You can use numerous tools for getting to know others, including Twitter Chats, LinkedIn Groups and good old fashioned Facebook conversations.

So every time someone engages with you on Facebook, their friends can observe. The more you are on FB communicating, or Twitter or wherever, the more your name / image spreads. The more you do social media, the more famous you become. It's important to get to know people who are in your target market. Getting famous among just anyone is not valuable. You MUST MUST MUST get to know those in your target market. Focus, focus, focus. Brainstorm. Seek and you shall find!!! For the first time in the history of mankind, we have access to everyone on the planet And they are codified by demographic attributes they've added to their FB profiles. You have to be a sleuth, you have to use your own brain, you have to be hungry, you have to realize the value of every single person who is in your target market. SOLID GOLD. If you want to get famous on Facebook, you have to cut through the noise. How do you cut through the noise? KISS Blow a Whistle Be different & Unique dotjenna dotJenna It's Facebook, not LogoBook. Use a photo of your fabulous face in the profile photo box. #dotjenna We are in the attention economy. Attention is the commodity in a world of information overload. You have to think, "What do I have to offer these people?" And then you have to get their attention by giving them something they WANT. Wooooooo Hooooooo!!! That' it!!! Famous people are influential.

Through artful positioning, you can situate yourself in any way you desire before the eyes of the public, your audience, community and target market. Create an image of yourself. When marketing yourself online through social media, it's necessary to learn the skills of Hollywood celebrities. Social media is a public show. Don't forget... It's a SHOW. Take tips from theatre, incorporate drama, build your characters, give storyline. Famous historical figures excelled not only in accomplishing great feats, but also in letting the world know what they did. You know the names of Alexander the Great, Cicero, Pompey, not because they were great, but because they worked hard to be well known and famous. Tweets Fame is the exaltation of an IMAGE. ~ dotJenna The essence of fame is proliferation of image. ~ dotJenna Is it just me, or can you see how celebrity is being diluted and dispersed among the masses? I think big brands will embrace a more sophisticated type of affiliate marketing model in the future. #affiliates #marketing #branding #Influence is going to be sooooooo huge. Huger than huge ever thought about being huge. (That's big) I think the conduit for big brand advertising will change from macro (television, radio, print) to micro (finely niched #influencers). Why do people enjoy entertainment? Movies? television? Radio? Because it fills the existential need of one to feel connected. #marketing Now that social media connects us more quickly and more deeply than face-to-face engagement, we don't need as much entertainment. #marketing Connections occurring closer than ever, so this is where the advertising will flow. You must establish yourself. Fame doesn't just happen. The "overnight success" is not the norm. Fame comes from preparation and proper positioning.

Throughout history, those who are famous possessed not only the talent or genius for whatever tasks they undertook, but also the Alexandrian trait of making sure that others knew what they had accomplished. ~ Leo Braudy "Frenzy of Renown: History of Fame"
Your goal should be to be known and liked by everyone who fits the demographics of your target market. When marketing yourself online through social media, it's necessary to learn the skills of Hollywood celebrities. Cicero's public identity (fame) was built not on nobility, as was customary for his time, but on his way with words. #fame There may be things you must stop doing online in order to position yourself properly in the eyes of your "public." Your public image evolves, some of the things you're doing may hinder your elevation in the eyes of those you wish to impress. You have to curb yourself.
